About us

The Beachville District Historical Society

The House

The Beachville District Historical Society was founded on
February 18, 1975 in order to preserve and promote the history and culture of the community and its members in the Beachville, Southwest Oxford and Zorra Township areas.

In 1992 the Society purchased the Downing property for $2.00 from Beachville Lime Ltd. to provide a permanent home for the Museum.

Several events such as the Annual Penny Sale, Beef Barbeque,
"Be an Archeologist", Holiday Open House and others are hosted by the Society throughout the year.

The Society's gatherings often feature interesting speakers such as
Mary Thomas
author of the novel "Turning Point", "David's War" and "Behind Enemy Lines".
Brian (Chip) Martin
author of "Baseball's Creation Myth" and two true crime books (Buxbaum and Meltzner cases) and journalist for London Free Press for 40 years.
Adam Fawcett
Author of "Dark Cloud of Oxford". A novel about the Topping Massacre in Norwich.
...and many others.
